About

Every person in attendance looks like they have been waiting their whole life to wear this exact outfit. That is the first thing you notice. AFROPUNK Brooklyn 2026 is a two-day celebration at Prospect Park Bandshell in Brooklyn — Jazmine Sullivan, Flying Lotus, Joey Bada$$, Vince Staples, Baby Tate, and 70,000 artists, activists, and culture makers who refuse to be categorized. Founded in 2005 as a response to the whitewashing of punk and rock spaces, AFROPUNK has evolved into the definitive gathering of Black culture in its most expansive and unapologetic form.

The moment you step in, you understand that AFROPUNK is not a music festival in the conventional sense. It is a fashion show, a protest, a family reunion, and a concert all happening simultaneously across a Brooklyn park. The stages host acts spanning neo-soul, hip-hop, punk, afrobeats, and electronic music. The Spinthrift Market features independent Black vendors. Bites n Beats serves some of New York's top street food. Activism Row dedicates an entire section to live muralists and community organizing.

If you are someone who has ever felt like you exist at the intersection of too many things to be claimed by any one scene, AFROPUNK was built for you. This is not for people who want a clean corporate festival experience. It is for people who want to feel seen in a crowd of 70,000.

The 2026 edition is at Prospect Park Bandshell (Lena Horne Bandshell) — confirm transit before you arrive, as this location requires planning. Arrive by noon: crowds become immovable between the two main stages by 3pm. Bring a reusable water bottle — free water stations throughout the grounds. Clear bags only. SeeTickets is the only official ticket vendor. August 15 and 16, 2026, Brooklyn, NY.

AFROPUNK earns its place on Falkor's Nation's Best list because it is the cultural event that hip-hop, punk, jazz, fashion, and activism all claim as their own. Twenty years in, nothing else is quite like it.

Oceanside Sunset Market -- Summer 2026 Thursdays
Today · Jun 3 Coast Hwy & Pier View Way, Oceansi…

The Pacific is a block away. Every Thursday evening from 5 to 9 PM, the corner of Coast Highway and Pier View Way becomes the Oceanside Sunset Market — vendors, food, live music, and the light that only happens when you're that close to the water at that hour. The beach-town market that runs when the day is actually good. Local makers, artisans, food vendors, and the crowd that comes out because the evening earned it. The vendor mix is Oceanside-specific: local crafts, art, jewelry, produce, and the food vendors that the beach corridor supports. The live music stage runs throughout the evening. The Oceanside Pier is visible from the market — the setting does work the vendors don't have to. Free to attend. Parking available near the Pier. Every Thursday, May through September, 5-9 PM. Oceanside, California. The market runs through marine layer some evenings. The cooler Pacific air is part of the draw, not a reason to stay home.

Pacific Beach Night Market
Tomorrow · Jun 4 Free Bayard St and Garnet Ave, Pacific …

Every Thursday evening, Pacific Beach comes alive at the corner of Bayard Street and Garnet Avenue. The PB Night Market runs from 5 to 9:30 PM, just 150 steps from the Pacific Ocean, and brings together 9 to 12 rotating food vendors, fire pits, games, and live music in one of San Diego most walkable beach neighborhoods. This is a neighborhood gathering, not a ticketed event. You show up, grab something to eat from one of the food trucks or pop-up vendors, and settle into the fire pit area for the kind of spontaneous Thursday evening that does not need a plan. The music is live and local -- acoustic sets, small bands, the occasional DJ. The crowd is a mix of Pacific Beach locals, students, and anyone who wandered over from the beach. Vendors rotate weekly. Past offerings have included birria tacos, banh mi, craft lemonade, Hawaiian shave ice, artisan pastries, and local small-batch hot sauces. A few artisan and craft vendors typically set up alongside the food. Free to attend. No tickets, no RSVPs. Just walk up. Dress for the beach breeze -- it cools off after sunset even in summer.

Rady Shell at Jacobs Park — 2026 Summer Season
In 2 days · Jun 5 – Sep 30 Rady Shell at Jacobs Park, 222 Mar…

The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park opens its 2026 summer season in June with the San Diego Symphony performing under the open sky at 222 Marina Park Way — performances running through September at San Diego's most beautiful outdoor venue, right on the waterfront. The Shell was purpose-built for this experience. You arrive before the music starts, the bay is in front of you, the city skyline is over your left shoulder, the sun going down over the Pacific. By the time the orchestra plays the first note, the setting has already done most of the work. The San Diego Symphony performs here across the full summer — classical programs, film scores, pops nights, and headline collaborations with artists the symphony circuit doesn't usually bring to San Diego. Tickets vary by program at theshell.org — single performances available throughout the season. The lawn section is the most social option; reserved seating gives you the full view. Bring something to sit on for lawn nights. The waterfront breeze arrives in the evening regardless of the afternoon heat. This is the outdoor concert experience in San Diego. Everything else is a substitute.

Abbot Kinney First Fridays — June 2026
In 2 days · Jun 5 Free Abbot Kinney Blvd, Venice, Los Ang…

Abbot Kinney First Fridays runs the first Friday of every month from 5 to 10 PM on Abbot Kinney Boulevard in Venice, Los Angeles. The street transforms into a pedestrian-friendly outdoor market and block party with all the boutiques, galleries, restaurants, and shops extended open late alongside food trucks and live street performances. Abbot Kinney is one of the few streets in LA that has maintained a genuine neighborhood identity through decades of gentrification pressure — independent retailers, working artists, local restaurants, and design studios have anchored the block since the 1980s. First Fridays is the moment when the community that sustains those businesses shows up together. The energy is different from a festival. There is no main stage and no single sponsor. Just a few hundred people moving between shops, plates of food from local trucks, and occasional live music spilling out of storefronts. It is LA neighborhood culture at its most accessible. Street parking fills early. Metro Expo Line to 26th/Bergamot and a short rideshare, or park in the surrounding Venice residential streets and walk in. The event is free.
