About

House of Heavy is San Diego's nu-metal night: a DJ-driven celebration of Slipknot, Korn, Deftones, Mudvayne, System of a Down, and the wave of heavier acts that followed -- Knocked Loose, Spiritbox, Bad Omens, Motionless in White. Described by its organizers as therapy at 120 decibels, and the crowd bears that out.

What makes House of Heavy distinct from a standard metal night is its identity. Nu-metal carries baggage -- the genre was declared embarrassing by critics around 2003 and never officially rehabilitated. But its audience never stopped listening. This is a night for people who maintained that Deftones were always good, that Slipknot's Iowa deserved its reputation, and that the turn-of-the-millennium wave of heavy music produced some of the most emotionally direct recordings in rock history.

The July 31 show at the Casbah starts at 8 PM. Tickets are approximately . House of Heavy has run recurring San Diego dates throughout 2026 with strong return attendance. Check casbahmusic.com for the direct ticket link when it goes live.

Bad Bunny Afterparty Experience — House of Blues SD
Jun 26 – Jun 27, 2026 TBA House of Blues San Diego, 1055 5th…

House of Blues San Diego, 1055 5th Ave. June 27th. The Bad Bunny Afterparty Experience at House of Blues — the night after the concert, the official continuation, in the Gaslamp Quarter venue that was built for exactly this kind of extension of the main event energy. The afterparty is where the show continues without the stadium infrastructure. The crowd is smaller, the setting is intimate, the music is the Bad Bunny catalog running through a DJ set designed to keep the night going for people who aren't ready for it to end. The House of Blues floor holds this well — the sound is calibrated for the genre, the bar is open, and the energy that built through three hours of arena performance arrives here and runs until it's finished. sandiego.houseofblues.com for ticket details and the full event schedule. June 27th. The Gaslamp Quarter on a Bad Bunny afterparty night is the fullest version of 5th Avenue — the crowds from the arena moving through the neighborhood, the bars running their own versions of the night, the House of Blues providing the official continuation. Get your ticket early. Afterparties at this level fill before the main show ends.

Kodansha House LA 2026 Coming Soon 37 days away
Kodansha House LA 2026
Jul 2 – Jul 12, 2026 Free 701 E 3rd St, Los Angeles, CA 90013

Kodansha House LA brings the Japanese publishing giant behind Attack on Titan, Blue Lock, Witch Hat Atelier, and hundreds of other beloved manga series to Little Tokyo Los Angeles during Anime Expo week. The pop-up runs for ten days at 701 E 3rd St in the Arts District, adjacent to Little Tokyo, creating an immersive brand space where manga fans can connect with the publisher directly. The activation features meet-and-greets with manga creators and authors visiting from Japan, exclusive merchandise drops, preview content for upcoming series, and fan community programming built around Kodansha's biggest current titles. Blue Lock — currently one of the fastest-growing sports manga in North America — and Witch Hat Atelier are expected to feature heavily in the programming schedule. This type of publisher pop-up experience is rare in the United States. Kodansha typically does not maintain a retail presence in North America, making this a genuinely limited-window opportunity for fans to engage with the publisher, the creators, and other readers who care deeply about the craft of manga storytelling. Little Tokyo is walkable from the Arts District and accessible via the Metro A/E Lines (Little Tokyo/Arts District station). The surrounding neighborhood has excellent Japanese restaurants, specialty shops, and the Japanese American National Museum within walking distance. Plan to spend at least a half-day if you are making the trip. Free to enter; merchandise available for purchase.

Kodansha House L.A. 2026 - Los Angeles, CA Coming Soon 37 days away
Kodansha House L.A. 2026 - Los Angeles, CA
Jul 2 – Jul 12, 2026 Little Tokyo, Los Angeles, CA 90012

Kodansha House L.A. arrives in Little Tokyo for 11 days from July 2 to 12, 2026, bringing the Japanese manga publisher's immersive pop-up experience to Los Angeles for the first time. Running alongside Anime Expo weekend (July 3-6 at the LA Convention Center), this is a free public event with AX badge holders receiving special benefits and priority access. Inside Kodansha House you will find a manga gallery, cafe, reading lounge, and library dedicated to Kodansha's most beloved titles. The confirmed guest lineup alone makes this a must-attend moment for manga fans: Blue Lock creators Muneyuki Kaneshiro and Yusuke Nomura are appearing, as well as Witch Hat Atelier (Tongari Boushi no Atelier) mangaka Kamome Shirahama. These are the artists behind two of the most-followed manga series currently airing in anime -- Blue Lock Season 2 and Witch Hat Atelier are both Spring 2026 hits. Meeting the people who created them, in person, in Los Angeles, is genuinely rare. The Kodansha House model debuted in New York City in 2024 and generated significant fan community response -- not as a typical convention booth, but as a relaxed space where you can read, sit with the art, and occasionally find yourself in the same room as the people who made it. It is a different register from the convention floor energy at AX. The Little Tokyo location is intentional -- the neighborhood already functions as a cultural anchor for the LA anime and manga community. Exact address in Little Tokyo to be confirmed via Kodansha social channels as the event approaches. Free public entry. No tickets required -- follow Kodansha USA (@kodanshausa) for the confirmed address and any reservation announcements. AX badge holders should check the official Kodansha House page for premium access details. Hours: open during museum hours approximately 11am-5pm or 10am-6pm based on the venue.

Splash House August 2026
Aug 14 – Aug 16, 2026 From $220 Renaissance & Arrive Hotels, Palm …

Splash House's August edition runs August 14-16, 2026 across the Renaissance and Arrive Hotels in Palm Springs — pool parties from noon to sunset, an after-hours venue, and the one summer festival in California where the heat is fully the point. Passes from $220. The August edition sells out before the June one. That is the answer to the question of which to go to. Palm Springs in August is 108 degrees, and Splash House leans into it completely: the pools run from noon, the DJ sets are built for peak afternoon sun, and the crowd is there specifically because they want to be in that heat. It is the most committed version of summer possible. The festival is hotel-based, which changes the logistics entirely. You stay on-site, walk between pools and stages, and skip camping lines and shuttle logistics entirely. The after-hours shows run at a separate indoor venue after the pools close. Three days in Palm Springs, surrounded by people who planned for this months in advance — the kind of weekend that looks a specific way in your memory years later. Book the hotel package early. The rooms go with the passes.

Weezer at House of Blues San Diego
Aug 21, 2026 TBA House of Blues San Diego, 1055 5th…

House of Blues San Diego, August 22nd, 2026. The room holds a thousand people — Weezer, the band whose Blue Album has lived in your chest since middle school, playing a club where the back wall is close enough to feel the bass physically rearrange your ribcage. Tickets TBA but they won't stay available long for a room this size. This is not the Weezer you see from the lawn of an amphitheater. This is Cuomo close enough to read his expression when the crowd takes over "Buddy Holly" before he gets to the second verse. Pinkerton cuts that rarely survive the setlist in bigger venues have room to breathe here — "The Good Life," "Across the Sea," songs that hit differently at volume, in the dark, surrounded by people who know every word and aren't embarrassed about it. House of Blues has its own energy: the balcony, the foundation room sound, the way the room smells like concerts are supposed to smell. A thousand-cap Weezer show is a story you tell. Get your ticket before someone else tells it first.

Major League Wrestling brings Slaughterhouse to Thunder Studios in Long Beach on October 4, 2026. MLW is one of the fastest-growing professional wrestling promotions in the United States, known for a hard-hitting in-ring style, strong technical wrestling, and a roster that blends established names with hungry up-and-comers. Thunder Studios in Long Beach is a television production facility that hosts wrestling in a uniquely intimate setting — every seat has an unobstructed view, and the ring feels close enough to touch. MLW tapes television here regularly, which means the October 4 event will be recorded for broadcast, giving fans the chance to appear on national television. Pasadena Holiday Tournament of Roses House Tour 2026 Coming Soon 214 days away
Pasadena Holiday Tournament of Roses House Tour 2026
Dec 26 – Dec 30, 2026 Pasadena, CA 91103

The Tournament of Roses House Tour runs in December 2026, opening Pasadena's most spectacular Tournament of Roses float-building facilities and association spaces to public access in the weeks before the Rose Parade. This is the closest most people will get to the professional float construction that produces the elaborate, all-organic displays that the Rose Parade is known for worldwide. The Doo-Dah Parade, the Showcase of Floats, and the Decorating Facilities Walk allow visitors to see the floats in various stages of completion in the final weeks before January 1. The close-up access to float construction — seeing the wire framework, the application of natural materials, the hand-placing of individual flowers onto surfaces that will eventually form a coherent image — demystifies the process while simultaneously making it more impressive. The Tournament of Roses Association also opens its tournament house on Orange Grove Boulevard for scheduled tours during the holiday season, allowing visitors to see the headquarters of the organization that has run the parade since 1890. Tournament of Roses facilities are located along Orange Grove Boulevard and in the surrounding Pasadena neighborhood. The Decorating Facilities (the working float barns) are typically located in Pasadena and San Dimas along the 210 corridor. Tour tickets available through the Tournament of Roses website. December timing: late December, in the final week before the January 1 parade.
