Headphones are the trick. The city keeps making its noise below you — a siren, a bus, somebody's argument on the sidewalk — and none of it touches the film, because the sound is going straight into your ears while the skyline stands behind the screen doing nothing but existing.
Four floors up on a hotel terrace you get an Adirondack chair or a loveseat and a bar that takes the job seriously. The programming leans cult and themed rather than new-release: retro double features, sing-alongs, and the films that are genuinely better outdoors than they ever were indoors. Downtown towers overhead instead of a ceiling.
Summer programming runs through the season on South Olive Street, and this location sells out faster than the coastal one, so book the date you actually want.
