Comedy is best in rooms where the hosts know each other's material well enough to sabotage it mid-set, and you are sitting close enough to watch it happen.

MK Paulsen and Simon Gibson run this one in Silver Lake, in the small theater beside the cafe — around a hundred seats, a stage low enough that eye contact is unavoidable and everyone in the room is complicit. The bill rotates: touring headliners passing through, LA circuit regulars roughing out material that is not ready and knows it, the occasional unannounced drop-in that makes the whole room react to a person simply walking onstage. The audience is the alt-comedy audience, which means most of them already knew who was going up before the lineup posted.
