There is a real, actual haunted ocean liner permanently docked in Long Beach, and every fall it opens its rusting belly to the public for one of the strangest Halloween experiences in California. Dark Harbor turns the Queen Mary, a ship with a genuinely grim history and a roster of resident ghosts, into a labyrinth of mazes, roaming monsters, and unsettling live performance, and if you dare, you can sit for an actual séance with the spirit-medium Lady Mabel to summon something that maybe should stay unsummoned. Select nights September 20 through November 2, 2026, aboard the Queen Mary in Long Beach. Come for the mazes, stay for the creeping sense that not all of it is an act. Bring the friend who insists they don't get scared. This is peak weird-and-wonderful SoCal Halloween, floating on a haunted relic. Board if you dare.

No haunt built by a theme park can borrow what this one already has: the real thing was terrifying before anyone hung a single prop. The Queen Mary is an actual 1930s ocean liner, moored in Long Beach, with engine rooms that drop seven stories below the waterline and a documented reputation as the most haunted vessel in the world. Dark Harbor just turns the lights off and lets the ship do the work. The mazes run through the ship's genuine spaces — the boiler rooms deep under the water, the historic first-class staterooms, the outdoor decks where the harbor wind does something no fog machine can. Some corridors run hundreds of feet through complete darkness, and the scale isn't designed, it's just how big the ship is. There's a scare zone in the festival tent, live entertainment, and the old first-class dining room running as an event space — but the reason to come is the hull itself, and the way real history is scarier than anything invented. 1126 Queens Hwy, Long Beach — select nights through October 2026, separate event ticket, advance purchase for the weekend nights. Dreamstate SoCal returns to the Queen Mary Waterfront in Long Beach on November 20 and 21 with over 70 artists across four stages, including the new Long Beach Amphitheater and the Beatbox Art Car for local artists. Above and Beyond plays an Anjunabeats Classics set. Infected Mushroom brings the psytrance. Ferry Corsten, Dash Berlin, and Astrix represent the old guard.
