Most people only drive through this village on the way to somewhere else. One evening a year it proves, fairly conclusively, that it was the destination the whole time.

You are not elbowing five thousand people for a sample cup — you are having a short conversation with the person who cooked the thing you are eating.
Your ticket comes with a passport, a monogrammed reusable spork, and a sip cup if you took the drink package. You walk at your own pace over about three hours on an autumn Thursday evening, stopping wherever the line is shortest or the smell is strongest.
