San Diego Padres Opening Day 2027
Mar 27, 2027 Petco Park, 100 Park Blvd, San Die…

San Diego Padres Opening Day 2027 at Petco Park marks the start of Major League Baseball's regular season for the team that has built one of the most exciting rosters in National League history. Opening Day at Petco Park is the civic event that marks San Diego's spring — the moment when the city's primary major league franchise resumes its public presence after the off-season. Petco Park in the East Village neighborhood of downtown San Diego is consistently ranked among the best baseball stadiums in the country — the combination of open sightlines to the city, the historic Western Metal Supply Co. building integrated into the left field corner, the park-like atmosphere of the Park at the Park in left field, and the 42,000-seat bowl design that puts every seat within a reasonable distance of the field. Opening Day at Petco Park sells out consistently — the combination of the holiday atmosphere, the pre-game ceremonies that mark the season's start, and the genuine fan excitement of the first game produces an energy that can't be replicated midseason. The surrounding East Village bars and restaurants run Opening Day specials that extend the celebration well beyond the game itself. Petco Park is at 100 Park Blvd in downtown San Diego, walking distance from the Gaslamp Quarter and accessible via MTS Trolley (Gaslamp Quarter Station or 12th & Imperial Transit Center). Parking in downtown structures or rideshare. Opening Day ticket availability through the Padres website; single-game tickets go on sale in February.

San Diego Comic Fest 2027
Apr 23 – Apr 25, 2027 San Diego, CA 92108

SD Comic Fest returns for its 2027 edition in the spring — the annual San Diego gathering that celebrates print comics, vintage collecting, and creator culture in the mode of conventions before the entertainment industry discovered them. The 2027 edition continues the festival's commitment to the medium of comics as an art form rather than as IP source material. Comic Fest's vendor room is the reason to attend: original comic art pages from established and significant creators, silver and bronze age books at prices set by sellers who know their inventory, Golden Age finds in protective sleeves, and the small press aisle where independent creators sell and sign their self-published and micro-press work. The conversations in the Comic Fest dealer room are different from any other show — this is a collector space where condition, variant identification, and print run knowledge are shared currencies. Programming covers comics history, creator conversations about craft and process, and the discussion of the medium's development that comics scholars and serious readers value. Guest creators at Comic Fest are there because they care about the community, not because they're promoting a film adaptation. The venue for SD Comic Fest 2027 will be announced through sdcomicfest.com. The festival has run at the Town and Country Resort and similar venues in San Diego. Admission charged. April/May timing is typical. All ages.

San Diego Rock 'n' Roll Marathon 2027
Jun 6, 2027 Balboa Park to Embarcadero, San Di…

The Rock 'n' Roll San Diego Marathon runs through the streets and canyons of San Diego in June 2027, one of the flagship events of the Rock 'n' Roll Marathon series and one of the most musically themed marathon experiences anywhere. Every mile of the course features live bands positioned along the route — local and regional musicians in every genre provide continuous entertainment for runners as they cover the 26.2-mile course through downtown San Diego, Balboa Park, and the beach communities. The Rock 'n' Roll format has transformed marathon running's social culture since its launch in San Diego in 1998 — the combination of running and live music makes the marathon accessible as a community event for non-runners who come to spectate and participate in the street festival atmosphere, and it provides runners with entertainment that makes the distance genuinely more manageable. The San Diego course starts in the Little Italy/Balboa Park area, passes through downtown, Mission Hills, and Old Town, and winds through the neighborhoods that make San Diego's urban terrain distinctive. The finish line festival on the waterfront Embarcadero features headliner concert performance after the main finish window. Registration available through RunRocknRoll.com — the San Diego race fills quickly and registration often opens for priority access before the general public sale. The accompanying half-marathon and 5K events run on the same weekend. Spectating is free along the course; parking throughout downtown with heavy demand on race morning.

San Diego Comic-Con 2027 — Wednesday (Preview Night)
Jul 21, 2027 San Diego Convention Center, 111 W…

The SDCC 2027 Wednesday Preview Night on July 21 is the first official access to the San Diego Convention Center for badge holders, opening the exhibit floor for a compressed 4-5 hour window before Thursday's general public opening. Preview Night is the most mythologized non-Saturday of the convention — the badge that determines who the genuine insiders are. Preview Night badges are sold only as part of full convention packages or as standalone tickets through the SDCC member registration lottery. They do not appear on the general public sale and are not available at the door. The combination of scarcity and the specific experience they provide (an uncrowded convention floor, first access to exclusive merchandise, the convention space before it reaches operating capacity) makes them the most discussed and sought-after badge type in the SDCC system. The exhibit floor on Preview Night Wednesday has an energy distinct from Thursday, Friday, Saturday, or Sunday. Professionals, long-time attendees, and industry insiders make up the crowd alongside the badge lottery winners. The pacing is deliberate — this is not the convention at full sprint but the convention as the people who built it experience it. Lines at the most-demanded merchandise booths begin forming before the 6 PM opening, but the rest of the floor is walkable at a pace impossible on Saturday. San Diego Convention Center is at 111 W Harbor Dr. Trolley service to the convention center runs late on Wednesday for Preview Night. No parking in the immediate convention area on Preview Night; rideshare recommended.

San Diego Comic-Con 2027 — Thursday
Jul 22, 2027 San Diego Convention Center, 111 W…

San Diego Comic-Con 2027 opens its first full public day on Thursday July 22, launching what is widely considered the most important pop culture event on the annual calendar. Thursday at SDCC is the sleeper day — thinner crowds than Friday or Saturday, Hall H programming already in full swing, and an energy in the convention center that the weekend days, for all their spectacle, rarely match. Hall H on Thursday is where studios frequently schedule panels intended to be surprise announcements — the logic being that a Thursday panel lands at the ideal point in the news cycle to build weekend buzz. Film studios, streaming platforms, game publishers, and comic book publishers all compete for time in Hall H and Ballroom 20. The convention floor is open all day with access to exhibitors, publishers, artist alley, the exclusive merchandise area, and the entire range of Comic-Con programming. Thursday badges give access to all programming rooms, screenings, and exhibits. Signing schedules with creators in Artist Alley run throughout the day. The surrounding Gaslamp Quarter blocks fill with satellite activations, off-site experiences, and screenings from studios that didn't secure convention space but still want to be part of Comic-Con week. Many of these are free with badge scan or open to the public. San Diego's hotel infrastructure handles the convention smoothly; the city has been doing this for decades.

San Diego Comic-Con 2027 — Friday
Jul 23, 2027 San Diego Convention Center, 111 W…

San Diego Comic-Con 2027 Friday — July 23 — is the first full public day of the most important pop culture event on the global calendar. Friday at SDCC is where the schedule fills the convention center from floor to roof simultaneously: Hall H programming begins in earnest, Ballroom 20 runs competitive panels with the overflow crowd that didn't get Hall H, and every programming room in the convention center runs simultaneously from 10 AM to midnight. Friday badge holders get access to the exhibit floor, Artist Alley, all programming rooms, and the satellite events spreading through the Gaslamp Quarter. Studio activations, exclusive merchandise drops, and surprise celebrity appearances happen with no warning on the Friday convention floor — the element of unpredictability is part of the DNA of SDCC Friday. Offsite activations reach peak operation on Friday: major studios build entire pop-up experiences in the blocks surrounding the convention center, accessible with or without a badge. The Gaslamp restaurants and bars run SDCC-specific menus and host private parties that sometimes leak into public spaces. The San Diego Convention Center is at 111 W Harbor Dr. The convention sits on the waterfront downtown, a short walk from the Gaslamp Quarter. Rideshare and trolley recommended on Friday — convention parking fills early and the surrounding streets are pedestrian-heavy throughout the day.

San Diego Comic-Con 2027 — Saturday

Saturday is when Comic-Con becomes what it is. Hall H fills before dawn — the line outside has been there since the night before. The franchise trailers, the cast reunions, the first looks: they all happen on a Saturday at San Diego Comic-Con. July 24, 2027. The day the industry picks to say what it couldn't say anywhere else, in front of the crowd that will carry it everywhere. Saturday programming runs across all three levels of the Convention Center simultaneously. Hall H anchors with the major franchise panels. Ballroom 20 runs television and streaming. The smaller rooms carry comics, animation, games, and the programming that doesn't make the headlines but is often better. The exhibit hall is at peak capacity on Saturday. Artist Alley is fully operational. The Off-Site activations in the Gaslamp are fully active — the marketing footprint of SDCC Saturday extends six blocks in every direction. The pinnacle of the convention calendar. The day the rest of the year has been building toward.

Sunday at SDCC is the convention's exhale. Hall H empties. The deals on the exhibitor floor get better. The badge veterans call it the second-best day of the week — the day the crowd thins enough to actually see the floor. San Diego Comic-Con 2027 Sunday, July 25. The closing ceremony, the final-day rituals, the 2028 planning that starts in the Gaslamp over dinner. The convention ends the same way every year: with the feeling that it went too fast. Sunday programming tends toward fan-focused panels rather than franchise reveals — the comics programming, creator Q&As, and the closing ceremonies the broader press doesn't cover. The exhibit hall deals that vendors offer to move inventory before teardown. The Artist Alley final-day pricing. For a certain crowd, Sunday is the best possible reason to be there. Thursday and Friday are about what SDCC is becoming. Sunday is about what it has always been. San Diego Convention Center, July 25, 2027.
