What it was like

The Belasco, 1050 South Hill St, Los Angeles. May 20th. Pub Choir — the Australian collective that takes audience participation to its logical extreme by teaching a room full of strangers to perform a song together, in three-part harmony, in the first hour — bringing the Eyes Up! 2026 US Tour to Downtown LA.

Pub Choir works because the experience is the product. The crowd doesn't watch — they perform. An instructor teaches the parts. The room divides into sections. By the end of the session, everyone in the building has learned to sing something together that they didn't know when they walked in. The Belasco holds this because the space is large enough to create the choral effect and intimate enough that every voice feels connected to what the room is doing.
