Patrick Garrity
CG's Comedy Club, 619 E Boughton Rd, Bolingbrook. May 22nd. Patrick Garrity at CG's — the working comedian doing a live set at the club that handles this kind of show the way a good comedy club always has: close to the stage, a crowd that came specifically for the experience, no distance between the material and the room.
Stand-up at a comedy club is not the same thing as stand-up anywhere else. The room is calibrated for it — the sightlines designed so there's no bad seat, the acoustic treatment making silences as audible as punchlines, the crowd in a specific contract with the performer that the performer can feel from the first word. That contract is what comedy was designed for and what only a club can reliably provide.
ticketweb.com for tickets. May 22nd. If you've been watching Patrick Garrity's clips and wondering what the full set is — this is the full set, in the room it was built for. Comedy club shows sell on word of mouth from people who were in the room for the last one. Get your ticket before they fill it.
