Alex Theatre, 216 N Brand Blvd, Glendale. June 6th. Whose Live Anyway? — the improv comedy show built on the format that Whose Line Is It Anyway? made the most-watched improv comedy in television history — bringing the completely improvised ninety-minute show to the Alex Theatre for a night with no script and no ceiling.
Improv at this level works because the format is a constraint and the performers are exceptional. The scenes are audience-driven and unrepeatable — the suggestion you shout from row seven becomes the material for something that has never existed before and will never exist again. The Alex Theatre is the right setting: a genuine performing arts venue with the sightlines and acoustics to handle great improv when it's working at full volume.
