The monthly cadence matters for competitive development — regular bracket play against the same core of players over time is how you actually improve, and the ranking format adds stakes that casual play does not have. Street Fighter 6 has rebuilt competitive interest in the franchise at a level not seen since SF4, and the local San Diego scene has grown accordingly.
