Guilty Gear Strive Monthly — SD July
Training mode never tells you the truth. You can lab the same combo for weeks and still have no idea whether any of it went anywhere, because the dummy does not adapt and it does not want to beat you.
A bracket does. Roman cancel timing, wall break conversions, the matchup knowledge that takes months to accumulate — all of it gets audited in the first round by somebody across town who has been building the same understanding in parallel. The gaps show up immediately. So do the improvements. The scene here is small and it is serious, and the monthly is where the serious ones actually turn up.
GameSync San Diego, 2860 Main St. $10 at the door, and gamesync.us carries the bracket format and build rules.
Come find out where you stand. Bring the matchup you have been avoiding and let it hurt for an hour.
