LA Galaxy vs New England Revolution at Dignity Health Sports Park
September changes what a home match is. Nothing on the fixture list says so, but everyone in the building plays and watches like the postseason already started, because functionally it has.
New England arrive as one of the East's most organized sides — a team that defends in shape and punishes sloppiness — which turns this into a midfield chess match rather than a track meet. That is a specific pleasure if you like watching the game itself rather than waiting for a highlight, and Carson's pitch rewards technical quality.
The table has mostly sorted itself by now. Contenders know who they are. Teams out of it are playing for seeding and pride, and the Galaxy are playing for a conference title in front of the fan base that helped build this league into a thing worth building.
Come for the sprint to the end. It is the only time of year that checking the standings feels like taking a pulse.
