San Diego Wave FC Home Match — August 28 at Snapdragon Stadium
The people around you already know the shape the team plays in, which players drift where, and exactly how many home dates are left. You will work out within ten minutes that you are the least informed person in your row.
That is what a late-August home match looks like for a crowd that has been here all season. The regular season is inside its final month, the seeding math is live, and every result narrows what is still possible. Attention gets sharper. The crowd reacts to a defensive shape before anything comes of it, which is the tell that a fanbase has been paying attention rather than merely attending.
A Friday evening at Snapdragon, with the playoff picture clarifying in real time, is women's football in this city at its most consequential.
Sit near the supporters' section and let somebody explain the songs to you. They will be delighted to.
