Thirty-three years is longer than most marriages and considerably longer than most car clubs, and the Sultans have been doing this in the same park above the same harbor the entire time.
What shows up is the real thing: up to 250 registered vehicles, everything 1975 and older, customs and lowriders and hot rods and trucks, judged by people with actual roots in this community rather than a rented panel. Water on one side, chrome on the other, and a day that moves at the speed of a folding chair.
The club is a nonprofit and the money goes to local causes — the last show put $10,500 back into the neighborhood. Spectators get in free, dogs included. Vehicle registration is capped, so enter early if you are bringing something.
Go with the person who still has their father's car in the garage. Ask them why they never sold it.
