The stages are spread across several blocks, the booking runs an unusually wide range of genres, and the crowd is Normal Heights itself - one of the more musically knowledgeable and culturally mixed communities in San Diego - which is exactly why this doesn't feel like a generic street festival. The Adams Avenue Street Fair is one of Southern California's largest free music festivals, turning the neighborhood's main commercial strip into an outdoor music and arts venue: multiple stages, 300-plus arts and crafts booths, a carnival section, food vendors, and beer gardens. It has been running over thirty years and carries a genuine local reputation that national touring acts can't manufacture. Free admission to the street fair; beer garden and some attractions require a wristband. Parking throughout Normal Heights - the 15 Freeway exits to El Cajon Blvd, which connects to Adams Ave - and it's walkable from multiple bus lines.
