Most car shows mix everything together and call the variety a feature. This one refuses, and the refusal is why it looks the way it does.
Roadsters only. Open-body traditional hot rods in the style of the 1930s, 40s and 50s — the shape American car culture keeps returning to. Holding that line for six decades has produced something closer to a living museum than a show field: every car in visual conversation with every other car, no era drift, no exceptions made.
The builds carry weight. Many of these have been in the same family for decades, or represent one person's entire lifetime of work on a single machine. The owners are standing right there, and they will tell you.
The swap meet runs alongside, filling additional lots with parts, memorabilia, tools and vintage automotive goods for builders and collectors.
Fairplex at Pomona. Gates 9 AM both days, ample parking across the fairgrounds, admission at the gate.
Bring somebody who thinks they do not care about cars.
