Wizards of the Play Network brings a Magic: The Gathering Regional Championship to the Los Angeles area in 2026, one of the highest-level competitive Magic events accessible to the public and a key qualification event for the Magic Pro Tour.
Regional Championships draw the best competitive Magic players in the Western United States competing in the current Pro Tour format — typically the most recent Standard or Pioneer legal card pool with the current banned and restricted list. The Swiss rounds run across Saturday with the top 8 (or top 16 at larger events) advancing to Sunday elimination rounds. Pro Tour qualification slots are awarded to the top finishers.
The LA region has one of the deepest Magic player bases in the country — the combination of game stores, strong commander communities, and legacy draft and limited communities produces a competitive field with significant depth. Regional Championships in Los Angeles consistently draw 200-400+ players.
Alongside the main event, Regional Championships run by Tier 2 organizing stores feature side events across both days: last-chance qualifiers on Friday, limited side events throughout the weekend, Commander pods, and the vendor presence that accompanies high-level Magic events. Single card vendors and sealed product sellers create a marketplace alongside the competitive play.
Registration opens through the Wizards Event Locator several months in advance. The specific venue for the 2026 LA Regional will be confirmed by the organizing store. Follow the Wizards Play Network on Magic's official channels for announcement.
