Leimert Park Juneteenth Festival 2026
There are neighborhoods a city assigns to a community, and there are neighborhoods a community builds for itself. This is the second kind, and one day a year it stops being subtle about it.
Drum circles. Jazz and DJ sets. Spoken word. Wellness programming. A marketplace of Black-owned vendors selling food, art, clothing and handmade goods down the length of the village. The Freedom Ride arrives mid-morning on 9, 14 and 19-mile routes, which makes this one of the few festivals that moves through the streets it celebrates instead of only standing in them.
Leimert Park has anchored Black creative life in Los Angeles since the 1940s. John Coltrane played here. Eso Won Books sold Black literature here since 1988. When something matters, this is where people come.
