La Mesa Classic Car Show 2026 — Summer Thursday Series

A restored lumber truck is the stage. Not a riser, not a tent — a flatbed parked in the same spot so long that nobody questions it anymore, with the band playing out of the bed. And the music never matches the cars. That is part of the deal. One evening a week from late spring through the end of summer, two blocks of downtown boulevard go bumper to bumper: chrome, coachwork somebody spent a decade finishing, and owners who can walk you through the story behind every panel. No registration fee. No rope line. What separates it from a one-day show is the regulars. People bring the same car all season, so by the final weeks you start recognizing them, and they start recognizing you. Everything is welcome — classic, custom, lowrider, rat rod — and the restaurants sit a block away if you want to stretch it into a whole evening. Bring the parent who still talks about a car they sold in high school. Let them talk.
