An hour of movement while the city wakes up underneath you, and then a mimosa handed to a stranger with the bay laid out past the end of your mat. No indoor studio has ever managed that chemistry, and it is not the yoga doing it — it is the altitude and the hour. The format makes performing for the room impossible. You are outside, the light is still coming up over the Gaslamp, and nobody is watching anybody except the horizon. The instructor is good. The setting is better, and that ratio is rare enough to notice. It runs the third Saturday of the month up on the rooftop, which has turned it into a small standing appointment for people who otherwise would not have one. These fill, so plan ahead rather than deciding that morning. Bring the friend who keeps saying they should exercise more and has never once been asked nicely.
