What it was like
Some records only make sense alone in the car at night, windows down, the fuzz on the guitars staying warm the whole drive. The Technicolors make that kind — dream-pop with choruses built for exactly that solitude — and they're playing the Casbah on a Thursday, which is a small kindness to everyone whose weekend is already spoken for.
The Casbah has been the Casbah for thirty-five years: two hundred capacity, an indoor smoking patio, the same bar. On a Thursday the crowd skews early-30s — people who ducked out of dinner to catch the openers and will be at work in the morning anyway. The band comes on around nine-thirty, does an hour, and stays to take pictures with everyone who waits at the merch table.
Doors at eight, openers at eight-thirty. Tickets through the Casbah's own site — twenty bucks if you grab them before the door. Bring the friend who still buys vinyl.
