WITCH at Pappy & Harriet's

Psych-rock does not get to rest in a glass case as long as J Mascis is still plugging in — not vintage, not revival, just the songs that get written when the songs get written. So WITCH (Mascis, Asa Brebner, Kyle Spence, and Dave Sweetapple) has been doing that since 2005, the heavy psych blues catalog that any Pappy & Harriet's audience already knows the lyrics to. Saturday August 22 in Pioneertown. The roadhouse in the high desert that has hosted Paul McCartney and Robert Plant in the same calendar as it hosts whoever drove out from LA last Sunday. Tickets thirty-four to thirty-nine. Doors at eight-thirty, music at nine-thirty. The drive is two and a half hours from LA. People do it. Outdoor stage if the weather holds. The crowd is the people who came for the bands and the people who came for Pioneertown and there is no daylight between them.
