Walter Schreifels came up in the late-eighties New York hardcore scene and carried its weight into songs that lodge in your chest and refuse to leave. The people who got it then never let go, which is what turns a night like this into a reunion as much as a show: the friend who put you onto 'Slip' in the nineties, the coworker you never suspected was in the scene, forty-somethings who still know every word, and kids finding it for the first time.
