Every August since the 1940s, a whole city shuts down its own park and throws itself a party.
The booths are run by local nonprofits. The stage hosts local bands. The rides come from the same traveling carnival that has been setting up in SoCal parking lots for decades, and the nostalgia is not accidental — it is the entire point. Kids tear through the midway. Parents reconnect with neighbors they somehow only see at this one thing all year. The beer garden stays open until the rides shut down.
Three days, and none of it is a branded activation, a ticketed experience, or a content opportunity.
Veterans Memorial Park, 4117 Overland Ave, Culver City. Admission to the grounds is free; rides and food are pay-as-you-go.
