Adapted from the John Carney film, with an original score by Pat Monahan, it follows two people who meet at the bottom and rebuild themselves one recording at a time. The Old Globe cast part of the onstage band with actual San Diego musicians who answered an open call, which means some of the sound coming off that stage belongs to this city specifically.
