Every immigrant kid knows the exact sound of their parents' worry. The pitch of it, the timing, the way pride and disappointment can arrive inside the same sentence. Somebody built a career out of turning that specific music into bits, and the reason they travel the way they do is that hundreds of thousands of people watched one and thought: that is my mother, verbatim. Persian family logic. Expectations that were never stated out loud and were somehow still binding. The negotiation conducted entirely over a plate of food. Now the full set comes to the Improv at the Spectrum for a run across the weekend, and the Friday show goes first every time because everyone is bringing cousins. It is warm and it is sharp, and it is the rare comedy hour where you laugh and text your mom in the same minute. Bring the cousin. They will not stop quoting it.
