Kids Free San Diego — October 2026

A seven-year-old looks into a telescope eyepiece and goes completely silent for the first time in their life. That is the version of October being offered here, and it costs you nothing extra. For the whole month, more than a hundred museums, attractions and historic sites across the county let every kid twelve and under in free with a paying adult. The headliners are all on the list, the zoo and the safari park and the Midway and Belmont Park, but locals know the real finds are elsewhere: the museum in Carlsbad where your kid picks up a theremin and plays it badly and beautifully, the aquarium tide pools that turn a five-year-old into a marine biologist for an afternoon, the folk art collection that quietly teaches a nine-year-old that beauty does not require a screen. All month, all over the county, so you can spread it across weekends instead of stampeding. This is not a discount. It is a city behaving as though it were built for families.
