San Diego Padres vs Arizona Diamondbacks

By late September the standings have stopped being an abstraction, and for a Padres team fighting for October, the final homestand of the regular season carries a weight the April games never do. The Diamondbacks are old NL West rivals — the kind of opponent whose every win feels personal — and this closing series at Petco is exactly the sort of stretch where a season gets decided in real time, in front of a crowd that knows precisely what is at stake with every pitch. There is nothing quite like a meaningful late-season ballgame: the tension in the between-innings quiet, the roar when the rally starts, forty thousand people living and dying on a full count. Friday, September 25, 2026, evening first pitch, downtown San Diego. Come be part of the last homestand of the year, when every out matters and the whole ballpark leans in together toward whatever October holds.
