San Diego Gulls Home Opener vs Henderson Silver Knights
Minor-league hockey is one of the great underrated nights out in America, and San Diego keeps it a secret it shouldn't: fast, violent, gorgeous, and cheap, played close enough that you can hear the boards rattle and the skates carve the ice. Opening night at Pechanga is the best of it — a building full of a fanbase that has waited all summer, the lights down, the anthem, and then the drop of the puck and ninety minutes of end-to-end chaos punctuated by the occasional gloves-off dust-up that brings the whole arena to its feet. The Gulls open the 2026-27 season against the Henderson Silver Knights, and there is no better way to fall for hockey than a live AHL game where the future NHL stars are still hungry. Saturday, October 10, 2026, 6pm, Pechanga Arena San Diego. Bring the kids, bring a first-timer who thinks they don't like hockey, and watch them convert somewhere around the first breakaway.
