San Diego Gulls vs Henderson Silver Knights

Costumes in the stands, a mascot race between periods, and a concourse full of children already three candy bars into the evening. A Halloween hockey game has a chaos entirely its own, and Pechanga Arena leans into every bit of it. Underneath the costumes there is a real game. The Gulls chase two points against Henderson, who arrive as one of the sharpest clubs they will see all season, and the rivalry has enough teeth that the hockey holds up even for the people who came for the bit. San Diego plays the quick, skilled style you would expect from a club built in the Ducks' image, which makes for exactly the kind of fast, watchable night that turns a first-timer into somebody who starts checking the schedule. It is also affordable in a way big-league sport no longer is. Wear a costume, get close enough to the glass to hear the boards, and let the whole family have the night. Start a tradition with somebody small enough to remember it.
