Street Food Cinema: The Princess Bride — LA State Historical Park

There are movies you watch alone, and there are movies that only work when the person beside you whispers 'as you wish' at exactly the right second and you both come apart. Outdoor cinema is wasted on the film you have been meaning to get around to. It exists for the one you already love, watched on a lawn with four hundred people who all know what is coming. The laughs land harder. The sword fight plays bigger. 'Inconceivable' gets the groan it has earned. Behind the screen the downtown skyline rises like a set designer showed up early and overdid it, and the park at the edge of Chinatown fills with blankets, food trucks around the perimeter, and a bar for the adults pretending this is for the kids. LA State Historical Park, doors in the early evening, movie at sundown. Bring the person who quotes Inigo Montoya at dinner parties. They have been waiting years for this.
