America's Finest City Half Marathon & 5K 2026

Mile three is where the deal changes. You came off the clifftop at Cabrillo feeling invincible — the Pacific shimmering below, Fort Rosecrans stretching out like a postcard, gravity doing all the work — and somewhere around mile nine your quads begin composing a strongly worded letter. You keep going, because the finish is inside Balboa Park and you already told everyone you were doing this. The certified course is genuinely a tour: down through Point Loma, past Shelter Island and the marina, along Harbor Drive into downtown, into the park where somebody hands you a medal and you briefly consider crying in public. The 5K starts minutes earlier on a shorter route, for runners, walkers, and anyone whose ambition has outpaced their training plan. Both races start at Cabrillo National Monument and end in Balboa Park with live music and food. This race has spent decades showing San Diegans their own city from angles they forgot existed. Go collect yours.
