Oceanside Longboard Surfing Club Contest & Beach Festival 2026

The wax is still soft when the first heat paddles out at dawn, and by the time the pier shadow has swung across the sand, the beach is packed with people who came for the surfing and stayed for whatever this actually is. It is not a sanitized stadium event. It happens right where the pier meets the water — close enough to smell the wax, hear the judges, and feel the salt drying on your arms before the first horn. Surfers come from Hawaii and Santa Cruz for handcrafted trophies and prize money split by division, but the real currency is the respect of a community that has been doing this for four decades. Live music, vendors, and a crowd that treats the pier like a living room. Free to watch at the Oceanside Pier. Bring a chair, bring sunscreen. Bring the friend who always says they are going to learn to surf. This might be the weekend they stop saying it.
