Canvas, sweat, and somebody's tamales drifting in from the parking lot — that is the first thing you notice. The second is that you are close enough to feel the ring move when a body lands on it.
This is not WWE. It is the room before WWE — where the next generation learns to fly, in front of a crowd small enough that everybody in it will later claim they saw it first. FN WARRIORS is the August showcase, run by Hall of Famer Rikishi and Black Pearl, and it is indie wrestling at its most alive: no pyro, no production meeting, just athletes who love this art form performing for people who love it back. The matches are real. The storytelling is real. The kid in the front row who thinks he just watched the future is probably right.
KnokX Pro on Saticoy Street in North Hollywood, doors at 7:00 PM.
If you have never been to a live indie show, this is the one that converts you. Bring the friend who says wrestling is fake and time how long that holds.
