About

Irvine has 96 spoken languages within city limits. One day a year, they all show up at the same park — and the result is the closest thing SoCal has to a world expo built by your actual neighbors.

The Irvine Global Village Festival celebrates its 25th anniversary on October 10 at Great Park, a free all-day celebration of the diversity that most cities claim and few actually embody. Cultural performances from dozens of nations fill the stages. International food vendors line the paths — Filipino lumpia next to Korean bibimbap next to Middle Eastern falafel next to Mexican street corn. Art installations, interactive booths, and community organizations turn the park into a living map of who actually lives in Orange County.

The festival runs from 10 AM to 6 PM. Free admission. Free parking. The food alone is worth the drive from anywhere in SoCal.

If you've ever wanted to eat four continents in the same afternoon while watching a lion dance, this is your day. Bring the whole family.

27th Annual All-American Car Show — Seaport Village San Diego
In 5 days · Aug 8 Seaport Village Embarcadero North,…

Every year, the harbor fills with chrome. Not the polished-for-a-dealership kind — the kind that somebody spent a Saturday morning with a rag and a can of polish, the kind that reflects the face of a person who knows exactly what year the factory stopped making that particular shade of candy apple red. The 27th Annual All-American Car Show takes over Embarcadero North at Seaport Village for one summer morning. All vehicles welcome — domestic, foreign, exotic, trucks, motorcycles. No era excluded. No make turned away. Registration opens at 7:30 AM and the show runs until 3:00 PM with live music, vendors, food trucks, door prizes, a 50/50 raffle, and enough conversations about engine displacement to last you until next August. Admission is free. 100% of proceeds from registration and auctions benefit veterans' organizations. If you're the kind of person who slows down for a Chevelle in traffic, or who has opinions about split bumpers, or who simply likes watching people light up when they talk about something they built with their hands — this is your Saturday. The harbor. The cars. The people who keep them alive. Free to spectate. Impossible to leave quickly.

Taste of Carlsbad Village 2026
Oct 9, 2026 Carlsbad Village Association, Stat…

Most people only drive through this village on the way to somewhere else. One evening a year it proves, fairly conclusively, that it was the destination the whole time. It is capped at a thousand tickets, and that cap is the entire design. The restaurants do not get overwhelmed, so the chefs are actually standing there, and the portions are not apologetic. You are not elbowing five thousand people for a sample cup — you are having a short conversation with the person who cooked the thing you are eating. Your ticket comes with a passport, a monogrammed reusable spork, and a sip cup if you took the drink package. You walk at your own pace over about three hours on an autumn Thursday evening, stopping wherever the line is shortest or the smell is strongest. Carlsbad Village after dark, when the shops close and the kitchens light up, is the part nobody posts about. Go find out why.

Chula Vista Third Avenue Village Street Fair 2026
Oct 10 – Oct 11, 2026 Free Third Ave, Chula Vista, CA 91910

Most San Diego neighborhoods either took their main street for granted or lost it outright. The South Bay spent two decades rebuilding one on purpose, a walkable commercial stretch with an identity of its own, and the street fair is the day it shows you the work. Third Avenue closes to traffic completely. Vendors set up along the pavement, several stages run at once, and the food is the tell — this is one of the most diverse cities in California and the fair does not sand any of that down into generic festival fare. People come up from across the southern county for it, and the crowd looks like the census, which is rarer at a San Diego event than it ought to be. A full free day in Chula Vista, with dates posted at thirdavenuechula.com. Go with somebody who has only ever driven through on the way to the border.

Carlsbad Village Street Faire 2026
Nov 1, 2026 Grand Avenue, Carlsbad Village, Ca…

Grand Avenue with no cars on it smells like kettle corn and ocean at the same time. Twice a year Carlsbad Village shuts the streets and hands them over to what gets called the largest single-day street fair in the country, and the autumn edition is the one locals use to ease themselves into the holidays. Hundreds of vendors line Grand and the blocks around it: handmade goods, art, jewelry, plants, street food coming at you from every direction, a beer and wine garden, live music drifting between the booths with nobody quite in charge of it. It is a walk-all-day event, equal parts shopping and eating and unapologetic people-watching, two blocks off the sand with the breeze running straight through it. Strollers, dogs, and grandparents all fit. Come early, because the village fills fast, and plan on wandering with no particular route. Bring a tote bag and the person you most like walking with in no hurry.

You found your people.

They didn't know each other before Falkor either.
