San Diego Triathlon Challenge 2026 — La Jolla Cove
A one-mile swim through La Jolla Cove. A 30-mile bike ride north through Torrey Pines along the Pacific Coast Highway to Swami's. An 8-mile run along Bird Rock with the ocean on your left and the kind of crowd that claps for every single finisher, not just the fast ones.
The San Diego Triathlon Challenge is the flagship fundraiser for the Challenged Athletes Foundation — a weekend where over 850 supporters and 175 athletes with physical disabilities race the same course on the same day. The triathlon, the 5K run, the Tour de Cove bike ride, and the 5K Walk + Roll all start from La Jolla Cove, and what you see at every transition is the same thing: people who decided the body they have is the body they compete with.
CAF has raised over $150 million since 1997 to get adaptive equipment into the hands of athletes who need it. The SDTC is where those athletes show up to prove the investment. Alaska Airlines and Toyota present. The course is the most beautiful triathlon route in Southern California.
