XG World Tour: The Core — Crypto.com Arena, Los Angeles

You have been playing the same sixteen tracks on a loop for months now. WOKE UP, GRL GVNG, PUPPET SHOW — the playlist is muscle memory at this point, every beat drop mapped to a different version of who you were when you first heard it. You know the choreography from the practice videos. You know the adlibs. You know which parts Jurin carries and where Cocona takes over and what happens when Harvey opens her mouth and the whole room changes temperature. XG is not quite K-pop and not quite J-pop and not quite anything that already has a name. Seven Japanese women, trained in Seoul, performing in English, making music that pulls from hip-hop, house, R&B and psychedelic pop without ever settling into one lane. They call it X-pop because there is no existing genre that fits. Their debut single Tippy Toes dropped in 2022 and the internet has not left them alone since. The group was formed by XGALX, a subsidiary of Avex, one of Japan's largest entertainment companies — but the sound they make belongs to no country and no category. The Core is their first world tour, and the Los Angeles stop lands at Crypto.com Arena on Thursday, November 5. This is an arena-scale show for a group that less than three years ago was playing venues a tenth the size. The Alphaz know what that means — and if you are reading this, you already know too. The fact that you are even here confirms it. General admission and reserved seating available through AXS. Doors open at 7:00 PM, show at 8:00 PM. Crypto.com Arena, 1111 S Figueroa St, Los Angeles, CA 90015.
