A Jewish guy and an Arab guy from Montreal, self-described as the only successful Arab-Jewish partnership since the dawn of human culture, playing talkbox funk with total sincerity underneath the bit.
Dave 1 and P-Thugg built a career on electro-funk that could easily have been a costume and instead turned out to be a genuine command of the form — the basslines are real, the talkbox is played rather than programmed, and the songs hold up without the humor propping them up. The DJ set is looser than the live show and leans harder into the disco and boogie records underneath their whole sound.
