Ventura Pottery Market & Bowl of Thanks 2026 — Ventura Harbor Village

You own eight bowls and you reach for the same one every time. It is not the nicest one. It is the one that fits your hands, and if it broke tomorrow you would be quietly upset for a week about a bowl. The Ventura County Potters' Guild takes over the harbour for a weekend each November, and the premise is simple enough to be disarming: you pick a bowl somebody threw by hand, and the proceeds go to a local cause. Around it is a full pottery market — mugs, plates, vases, the whole range — sold by the people who made them, a few steps from the water. What makes this different from buying ceramics in a shop is that you can ask the maker to hand you three and hold each one. Potters are used to this and most of them will tell you honestly which one suits how you actually drink your coffee. The thing you leave with will be the thing you reach for in four years. Saturday, November 7 and Sunday, November 8, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Ventura Harbor Village, 1583 Spinnaker Drive.
