Around 2008 everyone you knew had a digital camera with the flash always on, wore something with shoulder pads, and genuinely believed blog house would be the dominant music of the century. It was not. But the people who lived through it have never entirely let it go, and they have been waiting for somebody to put the whole thing in one room.
This is a tenth-anniversary night for an LA party that does exactly that, and the booking is not a tribute act — it is the actual people. Bag Raiders, whose one song became a meme so large it eclipsed the band. Uffie, who basically invented the vocal style a decade of pop then took. CSS, who were the most fun live band of that era. All three on one bill does not happen twice.
It runs nine PM to two AM in a warehouse room in the produce district, which is the correct setting. Expect a crowd a decade older than a normal rave that dances considerably harder.
