San Dnb Presents: Session w/ Degs, Desi, Kno

Drum and bass asks something of a room that other dance music does not: you cannot stand still at 174 beats per minute and pretend you are above it. Either you give in or you leave. On a Wednesday in Pacific Beach, a local collective takes over a small renovated room on Garnet with a Funktion One rig that is frankly too good for the size of the place, and that mismatch is the entire appeal. Degs is the kind of booking that tells you the people running this actually listen to the music rather than scanning a booking agency roster. The crowd is a San Diego specific thing, surfers and nurses and students who found jungle through a video game soundtrack, and all of them are there on a weeknight because this scene has never been able to get a weekend slot and stopped caring. Nine o'clock. Low ceiling, big bass, no attitude at the door. Your chest will take a day to recover.
