Somewhere in San Diego there are a few hundred people with a modular synthesizer on a desk and nobody to show it to. Sixty times now, they have solved that by booking a bar.
Open Oscillator is an open-decks night for electronic instruments, where performers sign up with whatever they have built and play short sets into a club PA. Some of it is beatless drone. Some of it is a patch that fails live and gets fixed on stage while everybody waits, which is somehow the best part. There is no headliner and the running order is decided in the room.
Sixty editions is the real detail here. This has outlasted most of the bands that have played the same stage, because it is not a show so much as a standing appointment for people who would otherwise be doing this alone at home.
