Failure, quannnic

A band that broke up in 1997, got rediscovered by people who were toddlers at the time, and came back to larger rooms than they ever played originally. That does not happen often enough to be unremarkable. Failure made three records of heavy, spacious, deliberately unfashionable rock and then dissolved, and the long tail of Fantastic Planet turned them into one of those bands other musicians cite constantly. quannnic opens, which is the genuinely interesting booking: a young artist out of the online shoegaze and digicore scene whose audience found Failure backward, through influence rather than chronology. Two generations of the same idea on one bill. The Music Box is a converted theatre with a balcony, and for a band this reliant on low end and room decay, the balcony is the correct choice rather than the lazy one. Doors 7pm, show 8pm. $35, India Street, Little Italy.
