Burnout Syndromes

Somewhere on your phone is a volleyball anime opening you have replayed more times than you would ever admit to a coworker, and the three guys from Osaka who made it are coming to a room in Pomona. Burnout Syndromes wrote the Haikyu!! openings three seasons running - FLY HIGH!!, Hikariare, PHOENIX - which means something very specific happens when they play live in America. A crowd that learned these songs alone, in bedrooms, over subtitles, finds out how many other people did exactly the same thing. The singing gets louder than the band. People cry at a sports cartoon theme and nobody in the room thinks that is strange. The Glass House runs all ages, which matters for this one, because a good share of the floor is too young to drink and knows every word in two languages. Doors at eight on Tuesday in Pomona, tickets around $33. Pomona has quietly become where touring Japanese acts land in SoCal, and the people who follow that circuit treat the drive out as part of the night.
