EPIK HIGH 3.0 NORTH AMERICAN TOUR

Korean hip-hop had a twenty-year head start on the people currently discovering it, and nothing makes that clearer than a room where half the crowd has been listening since high school and the other half arrived two years ago through a playlist. Both halves know the words. This is a group that has been going long enough to have soundtracked somebody's entire adult life, and their shows lean into that - the between-song talking is a real part of it, often funny, occasionally close to the bone. A university-avenue theatre in North Park is a smaller room than they play in most cities, which is the whole reason to go to this one. Seven on Thursday on University Avenue. San Diego has a Korean diaspora scene that mostly organises itself around food and church and group chats, and a show like this is one of the few nights it all turns up in one building.
