I Bet You Look Good on the Dancefloor: 2009 Nite

Dancing to guitar music went briefly, gloriously out of fashion and then came back as a whole aesthetic with a name, which is how you can tell enough time has passed. The songs in question were made for sticky floors and disposable cameras, and a surprising number of them still work at volume in a dark room, partly because they were written by people who wanted to be dance records and were not quite allowed to admit it. The crowd for this skews to people who were nineteen somewhere between 2005 and 2010 and have been waiting for permission to care out loud again. There is also a younger contingent who found the whole era secondhand and take it more seriously than the originals ever did. Both groups are correct. Wear something you will regret in photographs, which was always the point.
