SUNLIGHT SOCIAL W/ ALAN DIXON
Nobody turns up to this one by accident. Four in the afternoon on the last day of the weekend is the slot that separates people who like dance music from people who like going out, and the crowd reflects that split precisely. The records tend toward disco and italo, warm rather than hard, chosen on the assumption that the room wants to feel good rather than be overwhelmed. San Diego's weather makes this viable roughly fifty weekends a year and locals have quietly organised their social lives around the fact. It finishes in the early evening, which means Monday remains survivable, and that detail is doing more work than the lineup. Bring somebody who has decided they are too old for clubs; the entire format was designed as an answer to that objection and it is a convincing one.
