On a Penguins night in this building the number is genuinely startling, and it has nothing to do with anybody here switching allegiance - Los Angeles simply holds an enormous number of people who grew up somewhere colder and never stopped caring about the team their father cared about. A six o'clock Saturday start means the whole thing is finished in time for dinner, which is the civilised way to run a weekend: you get the game and you still get the evening. Pittsburgh supporters are among the few who reliably turn a west-coast road game into something close to a home one, so the room splits properly and the noise goes in both directions on every goal, which is far more fun than a building that only reacts one way. Bring somebody who moved here from back east and watch them locate their own people within about four minutes of walking through the doors. They will not have to ask anybody where to sit.
