Los Angeles Kings vs. Winnipeg Jets
Twice inside a fortnight against the same opponent at the end of a season is how grudges get manufactured. Whatever happened in the first meeting is still in the room for the second one, carried by both benches and by everybody in the seats who watched it, and a Wednesday fixture that looked like filler when the schedule came out in July has quietly become something people have opinions about. That is the part of a season nobody plans. The last week of March is also when rosters start looking strange - injuries, call-ups from the minor league club, young players getting their first look because the arithmetic has already resolved one way or the other. Go and watch somebody play their third professional game in front of eighteen thousand people. You remember those far longer than you remember the result. Prices for the last midweek games of a season are the softest they will be all year, because the casual buyer has already decided whether this team is worth following and acted on it either way.
